Haydn’s Lost Bass Concerto

JD Hill Music has a free PDF containing what we have of Haydn’s lost Bass Concerto. I wonder if it’s authentic.

§ One Response to Haydn’s Lost Bass Concerto

  • Steve says:

It is. Haydn wrote the first two measures in his catalog of themes. The concerto has not been found and all we have are these two measures. They have been reproduced several times. There was a very good article on this piece in the ISB magazine Bass World a few years ago. The concerto was written for a bass that was fretted and tuned A-D-F#-A.
